Ron of Argyll was built in 1928 for Colonel Charles L Spencer, Commodore of the Clyde Cruising Club and designed by John A McCallum with a more beamier design. The builder was Alexander Robertson and sons (Yachtbuilders) Ltd of Sandbank, Dunoon, Argyll. The hull material is Teak. Oregon Mast/ spars.
Her history is extensive. In the 1960's, she was based in the West Indies. Hollywood stars often cruised on her including Marilyn Monroe. In the 70's, she made sail for Australia which has been her home since.
In 1991 - 1994, she had a complete restoration and competed in the 50th anniversary of the Sydney/ Hobart race.
In 2006, the replacement of standing and running rigging, new engine/ sails end rewire.
For the Wooden Boat enthusiast, there could be no better vessel to own.
